My Teaching Examples 9-Apr-09

I have been working on some projects as examples for the Students for the projects from this last semester. They were required to work on a thrown item. And item with
a handle and a spout, and a teapot. Another class was assigned to paint a still-life of some flowers. These are my examples:

Self-Portrait

This represents my first attempt to sculpt my head in clay. I think that it went alright. I have definite issues that should have been addressed. But all in all I feel it was a success.

Mixing Slab and Throwing

Check out this cool video where potter Laura Ross demonstrates how to make a unique baking dish using wheel throwing and slab building techniques. I have tried this method 4 times now and have learned quite a bit about technique. You should definitely try this as a cool way to make interesting forms without having to trim your pots.
